Our story begins with a little dog named Goob.
Like so many pet owners, I wanted a meaningful way to celebrate the love and joy that our animals bring into our lives. When Goob passed away in April 2026 after a long and happy life, I searched for keepsakes that felt personal and lasting, but I couldn't find anything that captured the memories in the way I imagined. I wanted something unique, something that would become part of my home, and something that would bring back memories every time someone saw it.
That idea became Sketched in Stone.
What started as an experiment in my spare time quickly became a passion project. After countless hours testing concrete mixes, perfecting photo sketches, refining finishes, and discovering technology that allows memories to live beyond the stone itself, I had a keepsake I was really proud to show others. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and what began as a personal tribute soon grew into requests from friends and family who wanted to honour their own beloved pets.
Each stone is handcrafted in Cape Breton and made one at a time with care. Every portrait is individually transformed into a pencil-style sketch before being carefully applied by hand. No two stones are exactly alike, because no two stories are the same.
Thank you for supporting Sketched in Stone. It is an honour to help preserve the memories that matter most, and I hope each stone brings comfort and joy for years to come.
